Crested Butte, Colorado

Crested Butte
The self-proclaimed
Wildflower Capital of Colorado
In the past, I’ve only come to Colorado to ski.  So it was a joy to drive into Crested Butte during the summer time with wildflowers blooming, crystal clear streams racing along next to the highway, and green mountains in the background.

We spent a week communing with each other and nature  . . . and with hikes, a rafting trip and swinging from ziplines down the mountain.  It was a week full of fun and recovery. I thank everybody there for the experience strength and hope they gave me and the motivation to continue to grow personally.

Our group of Houston gals had so much fun!!  And I am thrilled to now call several other travelers my friends J  The pictures say it better than I ever could in words.

Valleys full of wildflowers - they were peaking this week
A view from the trailhead

Hello from the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory!
View from the top of the Judd Falls trail
View from another wildflower meadow
at the top of another trail

The chipmunks were everywhere
These little guys were SO hopeful we'd feed them
Crested Butte view with the moon
cakeballs!
A warm fire in our condo only took
4 hours and 2 people to start.
Fireplace + hot chocolate = happiness
The girls

Wildflowers everywhere

More wildflowers and splendor

Thanks to Karen, Sue and Vicki for cooking a fabulous
dinner and for bringing everybody together!

This had to be the most random karaoke crowd I've ever seen
Who doesn't like karaoke-ing with togas?
It turned into one big dance party
Having a blast taking instructions from our guide, Alex
He only got us stuck twice ;)

This is what following instructions gets you!

If you look closely in the middle of this picture
You'll see the bear that visited the Crested Butte Art Festival

I hate goodbyes . . . and I probably won’t see these gals for months.  But I can gladly say, I will be back to Crested Butte!

Next stop: The Black Canyon
