Termas Geometrica (Hot Springs)

Mouna and I parted ways, with plans to regroup in Mendoza a few days later.  My last two legs in the rental car would be on my own without a working phone (or map).  This should be interesting.

On my way out of Pucon, I stopped by Termas Geometricas.  Luckily, there was a "tour" to the hotsprings that 2 people from my hostel joined.  So I literally followed the van out there before heading to Puerto Varas.

The 10 mile "road" there, like so many in Chile
is just a little bit rocky

There are just as many hotsprings as there are volcanos in Chile.  Geometricas had a series of different pools, some big, some small, that gradually got hotter as they got closer to the hot water source in the mountain itself.  The temperature of each pool is indicated by wooden numbers at the entrance, and updated at some frequency.  There were several pools that were off limits because they were too hot that day.  Geometricas also had a couple of big waterfalls that poured icy cold water into pools in between of the steamy ones.    All of them were surrounded by very tranquil greenery and the sound of running water.   I could have stayed there all day.  We lounged in the steamy pools for a while, eventually braved the waterfalls, and I finally left in my rental car, keeping my fingers crossed I would make it to Puerto Varas in time for my pre-arranged rendez vous with my host there.

Follow the red wood road from pool to pool

Next stop:  Puerto Varas
